Book Review
Ahmed is a very quiet child who is prone to accidents. After an incident with a swing, his mother takes him to get his ears checked and discovers that he can't hear. With the help of a new hearing aid, however, Ahmed's world becomes brighter.
This is a beautiful, emotional story that can open kids' eyes to the struggles of hearing impaired children, and hearing impaired children might see themselves in little Ahmed. Beautiful watercolor illustrations and gentle rhyme scheme carry the story along gracefully, and can help keep children engaged. And So, Ahmed Hears is a wonderful, hopeful storiy with a very real topic that both kids and parents alike will enjoy.
